Here's a quick update from me. We're about halfway done here, and things are busy or boring... never in between.
I'm still doing just fine, and missing Stacey a ton. It's been weird to see pictures of her getting bigger because when I left, I hadn't really seen any change in her yet. It's going to be great to see her when I get back - she'll be as big as she'll get! I don't think she'll get too big, though since she's tall. We'll see. She did share with me that our 6 month in utero baby was measuring completely normal except the head... it was measuring 6 1/2! She must take after her father, wait... her mother. Oh crap, this kid's going to have a melon!
Stacey's sister is with her in Germany right now, and they've toured some local spots near our house, spent a couple of nights in Switzerland, and now their back in Germany to see some castles, as well as the Dachau concentration camp in central Germany. I'm sure they're enjoying it a lot.
Before I sign off, thanks for emails, cards/packages, and especially your prayers. I've asked some of you before, and I'll ask again: please remember our soldiers in your prayers - the guys on the ground routinely have to walk up to a house that has a 50/50 chance of being an enemy hideout to knock on the door. They're amazing people.
Last thing: being here has truly opened my eyes to the fact that Americans are incredibly generous. Case in point: last week, a lady from Nebraska sent us eight CASES of girl scout cookies... as if we need them! It was generous, but I'm pretty sure they've ruined more than one dude's diet!
Take care.
Ben
P.S. - If you are compelled to send a package, don't send cookies! I'm trying to avoid the junk food. Protein bars or trail mix for me... I know, beggars can't be choosers, but humor me.
