Wow - it has been a busy couple of months and Gemma is growing up so fast! When I last posted, Ben was in Turkey and my mom had just arrived. Now, I have just returned from dropping my mom off at the airport for her trip home and I am allowing myself a day to be sad that she is gone. We already miss her so much! It was such a blessing to have her here for so long. I guess I have to get used to cooking and cleaning again! Ben returned home from Turkey on the 20th of Sept. My Mom, Gemma and I all went out to the jet to greet him. We had a week at home before picking up my sister at the airport and heading down to Fuessen in Bavaria for a few days. We had a great time while we were there and spent a day in Munich at Oktoberfest and another day touring the Bavarian country side. Here is my mom, sister and I all in the Hofbrau Tent at Oktoberfest. Here is Gemma asleep in her Daddy's arms on the train ride home. Gemma did great during our trip! We drove home through the Black Forest and had an amazing time taking in all the scenery!
Before my mom left, I took some pictures of Gemma and her. Gemma was 11 weeks old this past Monday in this picture. I had her up on a table top to take this shot and I was lucky my mom was there to 'spot' Gemma because she rolled over 3 times on the table! It is so fun to watch Gemma growing more and more each day. Her latest discovery is that she has a voice. She will just babble on and on like she is having a conversation with you. Her voice is the sweetest thing!

so cute! I can't believe she is almost 3 months old! having kids really is such a beautiful, trying, growing experience. And it happens so fast, I have been looking at Ben's baby pictures, and wondering how on earth we got here - and he is only 3, it's not even like he's out of college or anything, and yet I feel like it was so long ago that he was a tiny baby who needed me so much. But, when I do look at the baby pictures, I still see that same little boy that talks incessantly, memorizes Bible scripture, knows the Pledge of Allegiance, writes his name, and then of course all the times he fails to listen/obey and acts out....but w/o the one you can't enjoy the other. Take care!

When I look at my Ben's baby pictures I feel that way too. He does print better than he writes but none of us minds that as long as we hear from him often enough. There are several other artistic family members with that trait, including me.

But this baby is also magnificent! I'm sure I'll say that after I meet her. Will I be "magnificent Grammie"?
