Gemma is 1!

I cannot believe that Gemma is 1! It seems that since she is 1, she turned into a toddler overnight! The day after her first birthday, she took her first steps and said 3 new words! OK, so her words were more like carefully crafted sounds but I knew what she was saying! (Sampson, all done, and something else that I can't remember) She has also spent the better part of this past week growling like a bear and roaring like a lion. She will do it when I ask her to, but she also does it randomly when she is crawling around. It cracks me up, because she innocently does her bear crawl while making a growling sound and I am not sure if she realizes or not that the two go together.

We had a party for her at the house- she was getting over an infection so she wasn't the happiest of campers but she hung in there while I enjoyed her party! She HATED the birthday hat! I have never seen her react so negatively to something before. About 3 seconds after I put it on her, she burst into tears. Nevermind that there were 7 or 8 other kids happily running around with their hats on, she wanted nothing to do with it. Me, being the stubborn woman that I am, tried about 8 different approaches to get the desired picture with Gemma in her hat with her cake. At least my future kids won't be tortured! She was so sweet eating her cake, she offered me a piece of partially chewed icing! Everyday I think that I can't possibly be more in love and she does something so sweet, I can hardly stand it!

So this next video is of her playing with the toy angel my Dad sent to her. The box plays music when you open it and Gemma is compelled to dance to it no matter what sh e is doing. PLEASE ignore my singing in this video...it's hideous and I almost didn't post the video because of it, but you just have to see her dancing!
