February Happenings

It's been a busy time since Ben got home. Unfortunetly, my grandmother passed away and after 3 days at home together, we hopped on a military flight and flew to the east coast for her funeral. Death is never a happy occasion, but it was truly a celebration of my grandmother's life that we experienced. It was good to reconnect with family and reflect on things. In true Westfall fashion, we took a family portrait in a hallway, instead of out in the living room or even outside. Some things never change.
The funeral was held in New Jersey, but everyone had to disperse quickly because of a monsterous snow storm that threatened flights home. Ben and I waited out the storm in a hotel and drove down to Ben's brother's house after the roads cleared to wait on a flight home to Germany. We had a blast at the Schill's house! The snow was so bad there that school was canceled for the week! We enjoyed lots of great down time together and lots of time playing in the snow! Another monsterous storm hit about 2 days later. When it was all said and done, I think Middletown, MD got nearly 50" of snow! Crazy!

Family portrait in one of our two snow fortresses. Here's Ben standing next to our rental car before we fully dug it out.

Gemma and Alyssa in a basket!Gemma cracks us up daily. Her latest stunt is insisting on 'reading' while wearing her Mr. Potatoe Head glasses. She walks around the house wearing them like it's no big deal. The other night, Ben was reading to her and she jumped off his lap, found her 'glasses' and put them on and then climbed back up onto his lap so he could continue reading. Seriously, she's hilarious!
